Kyiv prepares for the heating season: Klitschko announced the start date.
The Mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko, announced the start of the heating season in the capital. From October 14, heating will be provided to hospitals, schools, and kindergartens.
Klitschko noted that connections will be made according to requests from institution managers, taking their specifics into account. As for residential buildings, they will be heated when the average daily temperature over three days remains at +8°C or below, with a tendency for further cooling.
“The decision to start the heating season is made considering the factors of ensuring comfort for residents, the rational use of energy resources, and economical electricity consumption”, noted Klitschko.
Earlier, Klitschko had mentioned October 15 as a tentative start date for heating in residential buildings, but this date may change depending on weather conditions. According to forecasts, from October 12, a cold wave is expected in Kyiv, with air temperatures fluctuating between 6-9 degrees Celsius.
According to the rules, the decision to supply heat is made by local administrations, considering weather conditions. The main criterion is the average daily temperature: if it remains at +8 degrees or lower for three days, this indicates the start of heating systems.
