According to ТСН: Kyiv and the surrounding areas are preparing for a challenging weather week: snowfall, thaw, icy conditions, and fog are expected. Authorities urge drivers and pedestrians to be especially cautious and plan their trips in advance.

The Kyiv City State Administration has reported that from January 6 to 10, sharp fluctuations in temperature and atmospheric pressure are expected in the region, along with precipitation in the form of snow and rain. The main risks this week include icy conditions on roads and sidewalks, snowfall that will gradually turn into rain, as well as fog that will significantly reduce visibility.

In the event of critical weather conditions, entry to Kyiv for heavy vehicles and trucks may be restricted. To avoid transport collapse, the Kyiv City State Administration has prepared 55 control points and temporary parking areas for trucks on the approaches to the capital. Drivers are advised to review their logistics plans in advance and use official KCSA sources to monitor the situation on the roads.

Recommendations for Kyiv residents

  • Use public transport instead of private cars to allow municipal vehicles to effectively clear the roads;

  • Follow parking rules and do not leave vehicles in prohibited areas — offenders will be towed;

  • Be cautious on roads and sidewalks: braking distance on slippery surfaces significantly increases, and one should only cross the road at designated areas.

The KCSA emphasized the importance of increased vigilance and careful planning of movements to avoid injuries and accidents during adverse weather conditions.

Recall that Ukrainians were already warned about dangerous weather conditions on January 6, so it is advisable to be prepared for difficulties on the roads.
