Russia launched 495 missiles and drones overnight: Air defense destroyed 430 targets.
According to ТСН: On the night of December 13, the Russian army carried out a combined attack on critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine by launching 465 drones and 30 missiles of various types. The air defense managed to destroy 430 targets, with the main blow inflicted on the Odessa region.
The command of the Air Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that the Radio Technical Troops identified and tracked 495 air attack vehicles. That is -
465 attack drones of the Shahed type, launched from Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia) and Chauda as well as Gwardeiskoye in Crimea;
four aeroballistic missiles Kh-47M2 “Kinschal” (from the Tula and Tambov regions);
five ballistic missiles “Iskander-M/KN-23“ (from the annexed Crimea);
five cruise missiles “Iskander-K“ (from the Kursk region);
16 cruise missiles “Kalibr” (from the waters of the Black and Caspian Seas).
As of noon, the air defense shot down/suppressed 430 air targets:
417 drones;
four cruise missiles “Iskander-K”;
nine cruise missiles “Kalibr”.
The military pointed out that eight missiles and 33 attack drones were detected at 18 different sites. Debris fell on three properties, and six other missiles did not reach their targets. The exact crash site of these missiles is currently being clarified.
It is also reported that Russia fired continuously with drones and missiles. The regions of Odessa, Dnipropetrovsk, and Mykolaiv faced the strongest pressure. In particular, Odessa became the center of the largest attack. Some areas were left without electricity, and there were problems with water supply and heating.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, noted that the main attack of the RF targeted the energy infrastructure in southern Ukraine and Odessa. Civilian objects were also damaged in many regions. Overall, the government reported that one million Ukrainians were left without electricity.
This attack once again underscores the tensions in the region and the threats that Ukraine faces due to Russia's military actions. The attack on critical infrastructure demonstrates the enemy's intentions to destabilize the situation and create difficulties for the civilian population. Despite the successful attempts of the air defense, the destructive consequences of the attacks will be felt for a long time, and the reconstruction of the infrastructure will require significant efforts.
