The Escape King Has Escaped Again: How an Albanian Broke Free from Prison in Italy for the Fourth Time.
According to ТСН: In Italy, an Albanian inmate, long considered the 'escape king', has once again confirmed his status by escaping from prison for the fourth time in the last 16 years.
41-year-old Toma Taulant, originally from Albania, made a daring escape from the high-security Milan prison 'Opera', using a creative approach.
According to the investigation, he managed to secretly smuggle a tool out of the prison workshop and used it to cut through the metal bars on his own window. After that, Taulant descended, making a rope from bedsheets that he tied together.
The convict, whose sentence was supposed to end only in 2048, managed to cross the prison's inner courtyard and secretly climb up the outer wall.
Some sources note that surveillance cameras recorded his movements, but the alarm did not go off. This likely happened due to the timing coinciding with a change of guard.
The Story of Toma Taulant
Despite the spectacle of the latest escape, the most attention-grabbing part is the story of Toma Taulant himself — a man who has truly become a professional at escaping. This is the fourth time he has managed to escape from penal institutions. He first escaped in 2009 from a prison in Terni, then repeated his success in 2013 in Parma. In 2023, he escaped from a Belgian prison, using a 'human pyramid' created by other inmates to climb over the wall.
Although the 41-year-old 'escape king' has not remained free for long each time, his ability to consistently break out of various facilities has astonished the public and attracted media attention. His latest success has once again sparked criticism of the Italian penitentiary system, which has long faced issues of overcrowding and lack of personnel.
This story further highlights the challenges facing the Italian correctional system. Escapes like this call into question its effectiveness and safety, becoming a subject of discussion in society and the political sphere. Interest in this topic has particularly increased against the backdrop of numerous cases where inmates find ways to escape, which is especially reacted to by law enforcement and authorities.
