Craft cheeses and sausages: what buyers risk at fairs.
According to ТСН: In Ukraine, the demand for craft cheeses, brynza, and sausages at fairs is growing, but experts warn that 'natural' does not always mean safe. The production of such products is subject to legislative regulation, and violations of basic requirements can pose health risks.
Production regulation
The State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection notes that products of animal origin manufactured by small producers according to their own recipes and technologies are considered artisan. The law 'On basic principles and requirements for the safety and quality of food products' states that the production volume cannot exceed 1000 kg or 1000 liters per week over the year, and the key ingredient must be of Ukrainian origin.
How to choose correctly
Experts advise carefully reading the labeling on the packaging. It is important that it indicates the product composition, production date, shelf life, storage conditions, manufacturer information, and facility number, if required for the type of activity. All these requirements are enshrined in consumer information legislation.
Storage conditions
Craft products often do not contain preservatives, so they require adherence to strict temperature conditions. Violating these conditions can lead to rapid spoilage. The cleanliness of the sales place, proper transportation, and correct packaging are also important, indicating the manufacturer's responsibility.
Quality control
In case of doubts about the quality or safety of the product, consumers can contact the territorial departments of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, which controls food products and protects buyers' rights.
Experts emphasize that attentiveness when choosing food is the best prevention of problems. Craft products can be of high quality, but only if the laws are followed and consumers take a conscious approach.
In Ukraine, the demand for craft products is rapidly growing, but this requires consumers to be attentive and conscious. Producers must comply with quality standards, and consumers should know what to pay attention to in order to choose safe and tasty products. This is important for ensuring personal health and supporting responsible producers.Read also
