Ombudsman Reports Deaths of Mobilized Individuals at Military Enlistment Centers

According to Novyny.live: Dmytro Lubinets, Ukraine's Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights, has reported fatalities among mobilized individuals at Territorial Centers for Recruitment and Social Support (TCCs). According to him, four cases have been recorded across Ukraine where people died for unclear reasons while inside these facilities. Lubinets emphasized that these incidents raise serious concerns and require further investigation.

In his statement, Lubinets also highlighted the practice of forced detention of citizens, commonly referred to as 'busification.' Additionally, he pointed to severe human rights violations documented at the Uzhhorod District TCC and recruitment office. The number of complaints about rights violations during mobilization has surged 333-fold compared to 2022, reflecting growing societal tension.

Relatives often go days without any information about the whereabouts of those detained.

This situation is alarming, as the lack of information can place additional psychological strain on the families of detainees. Several officials have already been notified of suspicion, and some suspects have been arrested as part of the investigation into these cases.

Urgent Measures Required

Given the gravity of the situation, immediate steps are necessary to protect citizens' rights and ensure transparency in the operations of Territorial Centers for Recruitment and Social Support. Information about human rights violations in this area must draw attention not only from state authorities but also from society at large.

The deaths of mobilized individuals and human rights abuses at military enlistment offices underscore the need for a systemic review and reform of these institutions. The sharp rise in complaints signals serious underlying issues that demand urgent resolution to prevent further deterioration. Both society and state bodies must collaborate to uphold human rights and ensure transparency in mobilization processes.
