Ukrainians with disabilities can receive up to 50,000 UAH for retrofitting their cars.

According to ТСН: People with disabilities will be able to receive up to 50,000 hryvnias from the state to adapt their own cars according to their needs.

This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko.

“The compensation applies to the car owned by the person—regardless of whether it is new or used,” Svyrydenko noted.

How the compensation mechanism works

According to Svyrydenko's explanations, the process of receiving funds consists of several stages:

• Registration of changes. After retrofitting the car, the owner is required to make the corresponding mark in their driver's license and officially register changes in the documents.

• Confirmation of expenses. All expenses for technical work must be documented.

• Submission of the application. Documents are submitted to the regional office of the Social Protection Fund for Persons with Disabilities. This can be done in person, through the electronic cabinet of the Ministry of Social Policy, or through the app “DiiA”.

“The payment amount will correspond to actual expenses up to 50,000 UAH. Next year, funding of about 30 million UAH is planned. A similar decision was previously made for veterans,” summarized Yulia Svyrydenko.

Also, it should be noted that in December 2025, Ukrainian pensioners with disabilities will receive payments from the state, the amount of which will depend on the group and insurance record.

Particular attention is paid to military personnel who have become disabled as a result of hostilities: separate, significantly higher minimum payments have been established for them. Separate norms and minimum payments will also apply to citizens affected by the Chernobyl disaster.

This initiative contributes to improving the living conditions of people with disabilities by providing them the opportunity to adapt cars to their physical needs. It is important that significant funding is already provided at the start of the program, which may help increase the mobility and independence of those who need it most.
