Ukraine will receive missiles for F-16 fighters that can destroy Russian carriers of guided aerial bombs, said National Guard Reserve Major, veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war Oleksiy Hetman.

Ukraine will receive three types of missiles for F-16 fighters.

The first are modern air-to-air missiles with a range of up to 180 km. They are modern because they can effectively hit an enemy aircraft, specifically the one carrying Russian KABs and FABs. These missiles are controlled directly from the aircraft's computer, and the pilot no longer participates in their flight. This is what is called "fire and forget." That is, you see the target, lock it with the aircraft's on-board radar, which is a radar station. This radar sees farther than the on-board radar of Russian aircraft, so it can see the F-16 earlier, launch this missile, and destroy the enemy target," said Hetman.

Ukraine will also receive gliding bombs that are guided in the final stage of flight and have high accuracy.

According to Oleksiy Hetman, the third type is the most modern anti-radar missiles, which not only follow the electromagnetic radiation created by the enemy radar but also remember the coordinates of this station.

In addition, there are missiles for surface-to-air missile systems that have high accuracy. However, for the missile to follow the radar signal, the aircraft must enter the zone where this signal sees it, which creates certain risks.

The United States of America will provide Ukraine with missiles and other weapons for F-16 fighters.

The first batch of American F-16 fighters likely already arrived in Ukraine, reports Bloomberg. However, the United States of America neither confirms nor denies this information, and Ukraine also does not comment on the arrival of the fighters.
