Kyiv Reels from Major Attack: 107,000 Households Lose Power, 2,600 Buildings Without Heat.
Kyiv Targeted in Major Assault
According to TSN.ua: A massive Russian missile and drone attack on Kyiv has left 107,000 families without electricity and cut off heating to 2,600 buildings. The assault, which involved 24 ballistic missiles and 219 attack drones, caused severe damage to the city's infrastructure. This is one of the largest attacks on the capital in recent months, highlighting the ongoing vulnerability of civilian areas. The Desnianskyi and Darnytskyi districts were particularly hard-hit, with over 1,100 apartment buildings losing their heat supply.
According to the energy company DTEK, a number of buildings in the Desnianskyi district also lost power. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that utility crews are already working to restore heating to the affected buildings. The human cost of the attack was underscored by reports that two people were injured.
Widespread Impact on Capital's Residents
The strike has created significant hardship for Kyiv's residents, who are struggling to maintain daily life amid the ongoing war. The loss of power and heating in multiple districts, including Dniprovskyi, Pecherskyi, and Solomianskyi, adds another layer of difficulty for the civilian population. These attacks are a stark reminder of the war's direct impact on urban centers far from the front lines.
This incident underscores the continuation of hostilities and their severe consequences for civilians. Restoring critical infrastructure is now a paramount task for local authorities, as people face serious challenges without power and heat, especially during the colder months. Such events threaten social stability and security in the capital, emphasizing the crucial need for sustained international support for Ukraine.
