Massive Russian Strike on Ukraine on March 25: Dozens Injured and Cities Left Without Power.
Russia Launches Large-Scale Attack on Ukraine
According to TSN.ua: On March 25, 2026, Russia carried out a massive combined assault on Ukraine, striking multiple regions including Kharkiv, Slavutych, Chernihiv, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, and Donetsk. The attack involved drones and caused severe damage to civilian infrastructure, along with numerous casualties. This escalation marks one of the most significant coordinated offensives in recent months, heightening concerns over the ongoing conflict.
In Kharkiv, two Shahed-type unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) hit the Osnovianskyi and Novobavarskyi districts, as confirmed by Mayor Ihor Terekhov. Three people were wounded in the strikes: an 82-year-old woman, a 60-year-old man, and a 34-year-old woman. In Chernihiv region, around 150,000 subscribers lost power, while Slavutych—home to roughly 21,000 residents—had its centralized electricity supply cut off. Mykola Kalashnyk reported that critical infrastructure was switched to backup power sources.
Attack Progression and Aftermath
Across Ukraine, the enemy deployed 12 Geran-2 UAVs, 11 Molniya drones, and over 25 other unmanned aircraft. In Odesa region, the assault resulted in one fatality and one injury. Poltava region suffered extensive damage, with approximately 20 homes, an educational facility, two shops, and a freight car hit. Sumy region recorded over 140 shelling incidents, underscoring the intensity of the attacks. Additionally, an 18-year-old girl was injured in Nikopol district.
In Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions, injuries were reported among young people and critically ill patients. According to operational data from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, a secondary strike hit a unit roughly one hour after the initial attack. These actions by Russian forces have drawn sharp condemnation and concern from both the public and the international community.
This assault represents another phase in the escalation of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, which has persisted for several years.
The use of drones signals shifts in military tactics, potentially creating new challenges for Ukraine's defense forces. Given the scale of destruction and the number of victims, the international community is likely to continue responding to the situation, which could influence the conflict's trajectory. In response to these events, Ukraine may need to bolster its defensive capabilities and seek further support from international partners.
