Regions Impacted by the Attack on Ukraine's Energy Infrastructure
According to Novyny.live: During a meeting of the Staff on February 3, Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal detailed the consequences of a large-scale assault on Ukraine's energy system. The attack, carried out by the enemy, damaged power generation facilities and transmission networks across several regions. This incident is part of a broader pattern of targeting Ukraine's critical civilian infrastructure.
Recovery Operations and the Scope of the Damage
Significant damage to generation assets and power grids was recorded in the following areas:
- Kyiv
- Kharkiv
- Dnipropetrovsk
- Donetsk
- Odesa
- Vinnytsia
- and others
The Darnytsia Thermal Power Plant was among the most severely damaged facilities from the strike.
To restore the energy system, the government has mobilized the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Development, local authorities, as well as public and private utility companies. Repair crews and equipment are being redeployed to accelerate the recovery of the affected sites. Denys Shmyhal emphasized that this strike constitutes a war crime by Russia, underscoring the gravity of the situation and the urgent need to re-establish stable power supply across Ukraine.
