Budanov called on Ukrainians to join the intelligence: who can participate and how to do it.
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate Kyrylo Budanov called on Ukrainians, especially the youth, to join the intelligence. In an interview, Kyrylo Budanov explained how civilians can try themselves in this important matter. He shared this with Ramina Eskhakzai on August 5.
How Ukrainians can join the GUR
'This issue will be watched by people with civilian professions... Come, we are waiting for everyone,' Budanov said.
He paid special attention to high school graduates who are contemplating their future and hesitating whether to link their lives with intelligence. According to him, during wartime, everyone has a chance to defend their homeland.
'I would advise most people to fight a little on the front to truly understand if you want to engage in this. I'm not talking about direct combat actions, but about consciously choosing the path of service', he emphasized.
Budanov explained that defending the country can be done in various ways — directly on the battlefield or in intelligence: 'This could be working with enemy agents, counteracting them, participating in special operations. There are many options'.
The head of the GUR noted that there are practically no age restrictions: 'Legally — from 18 years old. And further — everything depends on the category. Up to 60, and even 65 years old, if there is desire and capability — you are welcome'.
An operational officer is power. An agent is a means, a tool with which the officer works. If someone from our people in the occupied territories wants to help — we will gladly find an opportunity to cooperate.
When asked where to write to those who want to join, Budanov replied with a smile: 'Nowhere. You will be found.'
However, he warned that working with initiators is difficult: 'In 99% of cases — this is someone's operational game. But there are exceptions. Especially when it comes to our people from the occupied territories — everything is different there. It's possible.'
In this same interview, Budanov noted how much time it takes to master the profession of an intelligence officer. He also spoke about the active participation of women in the structure of the GUR for many years.
A representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate called on Ukrainians, especially the youth, to join the intelligence activities, mentioning the wide opportunities for participation in this important matter. To identify interested individuals, he even noted that it is not necessary to submit applications, as potential volunteers will be identified. Both young people and representatives of older generations can join the intelligence if they have the desire and capability.Read also
