Frosts up to -20°C in Ukraine: rescuers are combating the elements

According to TSN.ua: Ukraine is experiencing a severe cold snap with temperatures dropping to -20°C, leading to dangerous road conditions and challenges for rescuers. Low temperatures have already resulted in several tragic incidents and complex situations that require prompt response.

Tragic incidents and challenges for rescuers

In the Zhytomyr region, border guards rescued a man who attempted to illegally cross the border. Highlighting the seriousness of the situation, the rescued man thanked the rescuers, stating:

“They left me to freeze. Thank you to the border guards for finding me and saving my life.”

This case underscores the importance of the work of services during such difficult weather conditions. In the Rivne region, unfortunately, it became known about a tragic case — a 47-year-old man died from freezing. This indicates the serious risks associated with frosts and their consequences. At the same time, a fatal accident occurred in the Khmelnytskyi region, where the driver of a tractor died after hitting the driver of a truck. These incidents draw attention to the dangerous road conditions exacerbated by severe cold.

In the Tyachiv district of Transcarpathia, medical personnel faced difficulties while performing their duties. In freezing conditions, they reached a patient on a sled pulled by horses. This case demonstrates how harsh weather can affect the provision of medical services in regions where infrastructure is not always ready for such challenges.

Overall, residents of Ukraine should be cautious in such low temperatures, as frosts pose serious risks to health and life. Rescuers continue to work to minimize the consequences of the elements and help those in difficult situations.

These events underscore the need for preparedness for extreme weather conditions, both for emergency response services and ordinary citizens. Raising public awareness about the risks associated with frosts and ways to protect oneself can significantly reduce the number of accidents. Government and local authorities must ensure proper conditions for providing assistance in emergency situations, which becomes particularly relevant during such harsh winter weather phenomena.
