According to ТСН: For Ukrainians who are tired of the cold and blizzards, patience is required as January will remain cold.

Nataliya Ptukha, head of the media relations department of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, noted that 'very optimistic forecasts' regarding an increase in temperature are not provided by meteorologists, but significant decreases in temperature are not expected either.

Weather Forecasts

According to Ptukha, 'according to the forecasts of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, from January 13 to January 18, Ukraine will experience truly winter weather — cold at night and frosty during the day in most regions. It will be slightly warmer in the south, southeast of Ukraine, and in Transcarpathia.'

She explained that such cold weather is caused by high atmospheric pressure near the surface in combination with a cold air mass at heights. The pressure will gradually rise, contributing to a dominance of dry weather in Ukraine.

Precipitation and Temperature

In the Carpathians and Transcarpathia, temperatures are expected to drop slightly during the day on January 13. It is expected that on January 15-16, light snow may occur in Ukraine, except for the northwestern part. By January 16, precipitation will cover most of Ukraine.

According to the forecasts of the 'Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center,' the second decade of January will be cold with temperatures below the climate norm. The entire month is expected to be moderately frosty, but some warming may occur in the third decade of January, although frosts will persist.

Nataliya Ptukha reminded: 'At the beginning of the winter season, our specialists announced the monthly average temperature values that may occur during the winter months and compared them with climate norms. It was expected that December would be warmer than the norm, January — one and a half degrees below the climate norm, and February, according to preliminary calculations, within the norm or higher.'

It should be reminded that abnormal cooling has already covered Ukraine. Although warm weather may appear at the end of the month, Ukrainians will have to wait for sub-zero temperatures and the winter atmosphere characteristic of January.
