According to ТСН: In Switzerland, a 41-year-old man known by the pseudonym Thomas has been accused of murdering and brutally destroying the body of his wife, model and finalist of the 'Miss Switzerland' contest, Kristina Yoksymovych.

The body of the 42-year-old model was discovered on February 13, 2024, in the couple's house in the city of Binningen near Basel, where their two minor children also lived.

What Investigators Established

According to the conclusions of the forensic examination, the cause of death was strangulation: a 'reddish mark from compression' was found on the neck. Before her death, the woman had received multiple blows: her body bore wounds and bruises, and part of her hair was missing.

'After the murder, according to prosecutors, Thomas dismembered the body with a jigsaw, knife, and garden shears, having previously broken the pelvic joints and separating the head,' the case file states.

Studies showed that he carefully removed the uterus — this was the only organ extracted from the body. Part of the remains, according to investigators, the man pulverized in an industrial blender and dissolved in chemical solution.

During this process, the man was watching YouTube videos on his phone. Fragments of skin, muscles, and bones were found in the house.

Defendant's Version

Thomas admits that he killed his wife but claims it was an act of self-defense. According to him, before the tragedy, they had a 'positive conversation', after which Kristina allegedly attacked him with a knife.

Initially, he denied his involvement in the murder, claiming he 'found his wife dead'.

The court considers this version unreliable, pointing to the deliberate and prolonged destruction of the body, the use of tools, and attempts to cover up traces of the crime, which does not correspond with descriptions of 'panic' or 'shock'. Experts also state that the 'careful removal of the uterus' might indicate a mental disorder.

Possible Motive

According to local media, Kristina was planning a divorce and feared her husband. Family acquaintances reported that their relationship had experienced a 'crisis for several months', and the police had previously received calls about domestic violence.

Thomas, in turn, claims that he was seized by the fear of losing his children, home, and business, leading to a loss of control and the murder of his wife.

At the moment, the court date has not yet been set.

Meanwhile, in Ukraine, a 41-year-old son of the first Ukrainian astronaut Leonid Kadenyuk was found with knife wounds in an apartment on Lesya Ukrainka Street in Kyiv. The case is currently being investigated as intentional murder with an additional label of 'suicide'.

This horrific incident in Switzerland raises controversial questions about the relationships between partners and the possibility of violence in families. It also highlights the importance of paying attention to warning signs that may indicate relationship problems needing professional intervention.
