Active evacuation of residents from 44 settlements is underway in Kharkiv region.
In the Kharkiv region, active and forced evacuation continues in 44 settlements that are under threat of shelling and hostilities. This was reported by the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Oleg Synegubov.
"It should be noted that we have 44 settlements that have the status from which active, including forced, evacuation of civilians is underway. This essentially includes all settlements along the border line, as well as those in which active hostilities are taking place or which are very close. There is a direct danger to the life and health of our civilians. Of course, there are settlements where five people remain, or even three, and there are settlements like Kupiansk, where we are trying to evacuate people as much as possible from the left bank. Currently, 134 people remain there. On the right bank, another 1.3 thousand people are remaining," Synegubov said.
According to Synegubov, electricity, water supply, and heating supply on the left bank cannot be restored as the enemy fires upon repair crews.
"Therefore, when it comes to people's safety, we must carry out such measures, and evacuation is the only way to protect oneself and loved ones from the danger arising from shelling. In addition, evacuation is necessary to receive all required services," added the head of the Regional State Administration.
Synegubov reminded that on December 25, Kharkiv was shelled by the Russian army, targeting critical infrastructure.
"Thirteen missiles were fired: S-300, S-400, Iskander, X-59. The targets of the shelling were critical infrastructure: heating supply, water supply, energy supply. We are currently continuing to eliminate the consequences around the clock. We clearly understand the scale of the destruction. At present, about 95 thousand subscribers in Kharkiv and 17 thousand subscribers in the Kharkiv district remain without heating and hot water. Electricity was restored yesterday," the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration reported.
He noted that the authorities decided not to impose limits on electricity supply for Kharkiv so that people could heat their homes with electricity.
Synegubov also stated that the authorities have a recovery plan, but they do not disclose it publicly, as this issue is under the personal control of the president, the prime minister, and relevant ministries.
It should be reminded that on December 25, the Russian army carried out a large-scale shelling of the energy system of Ukraine with the aim of depriving Ukrainians of heat, water, and light. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba. According to him, strikes were inflicted on Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Kirovohrad, Poltava, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.
It also became known that a woman died as a result of the Russian shelling in Novoosynove in the Kharkiv region. A pre-trial investigation has been launched regarding the war crime which led to the fatal outcome.
