The arrests occurred on March 8 in the city of Korosten, Zhytomyr region. During the operation, law enforcement seized a Kalashnikov assault rifle, a tactical rifle, and ammunition. Both men were formally notified of suspicion under Article 115, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on March 26. If convicted, they face penalties ranging from 15 years to life imprisonment.
