Ukrainian sanatorium with 120 internally displaced persons may be left without electricity on December 24.
According to ТСН: On December 24, a shutdown of some facilities of the state enterprise 'Lvivvuhillya' is planned due to significant debt. This shutdown also affects the 'Rovesnyk' sanatorium, where about 120 internally displaced persons reside.
Reasons for the Shutdown
The electricity supplier DPZD 'Ukrinterenergo' sent a requirement to the distribution system operator to terminate electricity supply to the debtor.
'At the request of the electricity supplier, the state enterprise DPZD 'Ukrinterenergo' (supplier of 'last resort'), on December 24, 2025, a shutdown of facilities of another state enterprise — DP 'Lvivvuhillya' (social facilities, administrative buildings, etc.) is scheduled due to debts for consumed electricity,' the statement reads.
According to the rules of the Distribution System Code, the distribution system operator is obliged to fulfill such requests, so consumers who have accumulated debts will be disconnected.
This applies not only to production facilities but also to social infrastructure, in particular the sanatorium 'Rovesnyk', which may lead to power outages for the displaced persons.
The company 'Lvivoblenenergo' warned 'Lvivvuhillya' on December 8 about its intention to terminate power supply and appealed to the Lviv Regional Military Administration to provide backup power sources for the rooms where the internally displaced persons live.
'All responsibility for potential consequences of disconnection lies with the management of 'Lvivvuhillya', as it is precisely due to debts that the critical situation arose,' the company emphasized.
Number of People Who May Be Left Without Electricity
According to information from MP Mykhailo Volynets, there are 120 displaced persons living in the sanatorium, including 20 children. He reported that the debt has arisen due to the blocking of the enterprise's accounts by the tax service.
The issue concerns fines that have been accruing since 2001. As a result, the coal enterprise has not paid half of the salary for October and completely for November, leading to a lack of funds to pay off the debt for electricity.
Let us remind you that one of the cities in Ukraine is introducing a strict electricity saving regime. Specifically it concerns Zhytomyr.
Shutting off electricity for the 'Rovesnyk' sanatorium may significantly complicate life for displaced persons who are already in difficult conditions. This situation is particularly concerning for parents of children, as the absence of electricity can affect their education and daily activities. The authorities are working on finding ways to resolve the issue, but without adequate funding, the situation may remain critical.
