17 Ukrainians returned to the territory of Ukraine

17 Ukrainians, among whom were elderly people and children, returned to the territory of Ukraine under government control. This was reported by the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets.

With the efforts of government agencies, the office of the commissioner, volunteers, and international partners, it was possible to return 17 citizens of Ukraine, Lubinets reported.

Among the individuals who were helped to return to the territory of Ukraine under government control were:

  • Three families from Kherson region who were under occupation. One of the families lost their mother, another needed medical assistance due to old age.
  • A couple from Crimea who left the peninsula due to their love for Ukraine and their rejection of the chaos created by the Russian authorities.
  • An elderly woman with her daughter, who independently went through a difficult path across the territory of the aggressor country to return home.
  • An elderly man with a disability who needs medical assistance and special care due to vision impairments.
  • A 77-year-old woman who was evacuated from an active combat zone and needs medical assistance due to chronic diseases.
  • A man who spent almost 3 years in the occupied territory and decided to leave for his future.
  • Two women who have been waiting for a long Time for the opportunity to return to the territory of Ukraine under government control.

The commissioner stated that Ukraine continues to work so that every Ukrainian can return to their homeland.

Recently, three more children, a 17-year-old boy, and two young boys were returned from temporarily occupied regions to the territory of Ukraine under government control. The 17-year-old boy was harmed due to his pro-Ukrainian position and assistance to the Armed Forces.

Ukraine has agreed with Russia that regular exchanges of prisoners of war will take place in 2025, prioritizing the severely ill and seriously wounded. This was stated by the Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets. For the first time since the start of the war with Russia, lists for exchange are being formed based on physical health.
