A child with disabilities died of hunger in Vinnytsia region: was not fed for a long time.
According to ТСН: A 10-year-old boy with disabilities died in the Vinnytsia region, who had not received food for at least two months.
Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko stated:
“The boy had a disability from birth. He could not protect himself. He could not ask for help. He was completely dependent on adults. Since May 2025, the child had not attended school. His condition deteriorated. But the mother did not seek medical help.”
The forensic examination indicated that the cause of the child's death was prolonged starvation.
“The boy had not been fed for almost 60 days, he received only water, very little and rarely. According to experts, the child could have been saved had he been provided with specialized medical assistance and proper supervision.”
The mother of the boy has been detained and is facing charges. A petition for her custody has been submitted to the court. It has been established that the woman had been previously held accountable for failing to fulfill parental duties.
There have also been reports that in Dnipropetrovsk region parents will be prosecuted for abusing a child.
This tragedy highlights serious problems in the system of protecting children with disabilities and in the issue of parental responsibility. It is important for society and state authorities to pay attention to the needs of such children and to provide them with proper assistance and support to prevent similar cases in the future.
