The incident occurred at the 'Albashneft' mini-refinery in the stanitsa of Novominskaya. The blaze engulfed one of the plant's storage tanks and the surrounding area, covering approximately 150 square meters.
Authorities report no casualties from the fire. A total of 39 firefighters equipped with 13 vehicles are on the scene working to extinguish the flames. Their efforts are focused on containing the fire to prevent its spread and mitigate potential environmental damage to the local area.
Ongoing Response and Investigation
The situation is currently under control, with emergency services continuing their operations. A full investigation will be conducted to determine the precise cause of the drone's crash and the subsequent ignition of the fire.
This event highlights the significant risks that drone incursions pose to critical industrial infrastructure, even in regions far from the front lines. While there were no immediate human casualties, fires at oil refineries carry serious potential consequences for regional safety and the environment. The forthcoming investigation aims not only to establish the circumstances of this drone strike but also to identify measures that could prevent similar incidents in the future.
