Night strike on Kremenchuk: how residents survived the massive attack.
According to ТСН: On the night of December 7, Russian occupiers launched a massive airstrike on Kremenchuk, located in Poltava region.
Situation in Kremenchuk
Local residents share their horrific impressions of this attack. One resident, Valentina Kurochka, said:
‘It’s very, very scary. And there’s nowhere to go. …the bomb shelter is far away, and everyone has walking sticks, with crutches. How can we run? From midnight to 3:00 - at first it was a little, then stronger and stronger (gunfire is heard - ed.). And just imagine the commotion. People are sitting on benches on the first floor, we stand in the corridors between the walls.’
Another resident, Ms. Vera, who moved to Kremenchuk from the destroyed Bakhmut, recalled how she was awakened at night by the buzzing of Russian Shahed drones.
‘We went downstairs. We turned off the light, then gradually turned off the heating, then the water. And we sat like this until 03:00 on the first floor. It’s horror. It feels like I’m back in my city.’
As of the morning, in the dormitory where Ms. Vera lives, there’s no heating or water.
City recovery
After the massive strike on Kremenchuk’s infrastructure, power, water, and heating disruptions have been reported. The city mayor assured that work is underway to eliminate the consequences of the attack and restore electricity, water, and heating supply in stages.
This attack has become another chapter in the prolonged conflict that Ukraine is enduring. People affected by shelling are trying to restore their daily lives, but infrastructure problems continue to impact their stability. Authorities are continuing to work on restoring critical systems to support residents during these difficult times.
