Russians attacked Zaporizhzhia with drones: 9 strikes on residential buildings and infrastructure.
According to ТСН: On the night of January 2, Zaporizhzhia witnessed one of the most massive drone attacks. Despite the efforts of air defense systems, the city recorded numerous destructions in the residential sector and infrastructure facilities.
The head of the Zaporizhzhia OVA, Ivan Fedorov, reported on the consequences of the shelling via Telegram.
Scale of destruction
According to the regional head, the enemy struck the territory of the regional center with drones nine times. The main strikes were aimed at:
residential buildings (private and high-rise);
commercial facilities;
civil infrastructure.
By morning, dozens of damaged buildings had already been recorded. The Dniprovskyi district suffered particularly, where debris removal and area clearing continue.
Situation with the injured and energy
Thanks to the effective work of the defense forces, which destroyed a significant portion of the enemy targets during the approach, it was possible to avoid new injuries this night. However, 30 individuals who were injured during the New Year period remain in hospitals.
The occupiers again tried to destroy the energy system of the region.
“The enemy attempted to strike at the energy infrastructure again this night, but as of the morning, all subscribers in the region had electricity,” emphasized Fedorov.
Recovery priorities
Utility services plan to eliminate the consequences of the attack by the end of the day. The priority tasks include:
Emergency repairs: in 12 high-rise buildings, the broken windows and doors need to be closed to retain heat under low temperature conditions.
Clearing areas: restoring traffic and cleaning up debris in the city center.
It is also worth noting that on December 31, Russian occupiers also carried out strikes on Zaporizhzhia throughout the day.
The attack on Zaporizhzhia confirms that the region remains under the threat of aggression. Local authorities have already identified recovery priorities, but the consequences of the attacks pose a serious threat to the safety and lives of residents. Recovery costs may be significant, and support from the government and international partners is needed for this.
