New Temporary Reservation Option for Defense Industry Employees

According to TSN.ua: Ukraine's defense enterprises now have access to a fresh mechanism for temporarily reserving workers whose military registration status is not yet fully settled. This reservation lasts for 45 days, giving employees time to update their records and address any outstanding military service issues. The initiative is designed to help companies retain critical personnel amid ongoing wartime demands.

According to Ukraine's Ministry of Defense, only employees who are already registered with the military can use this new option. It is important to note that having this reservation does not automatically grant permission to cross the state border.

Updated Reservation Rules

Additionally, starting January 1, 2026, the minimum salary threshold for obtaining a reservation will rise to 21,617.5 hryvnias. This change takes effect in March 2026, when updated reservation rules with the new wage requirement come into force across Ukraine.

The application process through the 'Diia' platform is notably fast. Requests are reviewed within up to 72 hours, with accelerated processing for the defense sector. This enables businesses to quickly handle worker reservations, ensuring their continued participation in critical defense operations.

In essence, this temporary reservation tool aims to support defense companies in preserving their workforce and preparing personnel effectively for their tasks.

This move by Ukraine's Ministry of Defense reflects a commitment to maintaining staffing levels in a sector that is vital to the country's security.

Given the military challenges Ukraine faces, these new reservation rules could significantly ease the burden on both employees and employers, promoting stability in defense industry operations. The updated minimum wage requirement also mirrors shifts in the nation's economic landscape and the need to adapt to evolving realities.
