Orban may start a 'mission 2.0' regarding Ukraine after calls from Trump - media.
The Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, may embark on a new 'peacekeeping mission' concerning Ukraine as early as December. This has become possible due to frequent phone conversations with U.S. President Donald Trump.
According to Hungarian sources, after the elections, Trump and Orban spoke many times. This is a rare situation, as there have been no previous instances where an elected U.S. president has called the Prime Minister of Hungary so frequently.
The initial conversations were formal, but subsequent ones addressed more specific issues.
Trump was interested in exploring the possibilities for Russia to continue military actions, while Orban believes that to achieve long-term peace, the war must be halted immediately. These views are reminiscent of Trump's promises to 'end the war in 24 hours.'
According to government sources, Orban may initiate a 'peacekeeping mission' version 2.0 in December. While there are no details yet, it is likely that during this mission he will meet with President Zelensky, President Putin, and Chinese leader Xi Jinping. The mission will likely coincide with the EU summit in Brussels on December 19.
It is worth noting that after Hungary joined the EU, Orban conducted a 'peacekeeping mission' in July, visiting Kyiv, Moscow, and Beijing, and also meeting with Trump. During this mission, he delivered a 'peace plan' that involves possible mediation by the U.S., Europe, China, and Turkey.
