Orikhiv Under Daily Bombardment: 80 Dead and Only 700 Residents Remain.
A City of Empty Streets and Hostile Drones
According to TSN.ua: Orikhiv continues to endure relentless bombardment, which has claimed the lives of 80 local residents. Despite the extreme danger, approximately 700 people remain in the city itself, with up to 900 in the wider community. The city has suffered extensive destruction, and those who stay rely on volunteer aid for survival. This frontline city in Zaporizhzhia Oblast has been a focal point of intense fighting since the early stages of the full-scale invasion.
The Situation on the Ground
Orikhiv is subjected to daily strikes from guided aerial bombs and drones. Just recently, a 57-year-old woman was killed by an enemy bomb. Over the course of the war, 80 local residents have been killed and more than 300 wounded. The casualties include municipal workers, with two killed in 2025 alone.
“About 700 people remain in the city, and up to 900 in the community,” stated Mykola Vinichenko.
Local residents struggle to survive under constant threat, depending on volunteers who provide essential resources. Life in defiance of hell has become a reality for Orikhiv's inhabitants, who try to remain in their homes despite daily shelling. The situation remains critical, and the need for humanitarian aid is growing.
The plight of Orikhiv illustrates the harsh conditions faced by civilians remaining in active combat zones. Constant attacks lead to significant loss of life and infrastructure damage, complicating access to basic necessities. Volunteer assistance plays a crucial role in supporting the remaining population, yet the escalating humanitarian need underscores the requirement for international attention and support to overcome the crisis. Under such conditions, survival becomes a daily ordeal for those clinging to their homes, hoping for peace and stability.
