Shooting in Zaporizhzhia: police and DBR have different versions of the incident.
According to ТСН: A fight and shooting occurred in Zaporizhzhia between a police officer and a group of servicemen.
The details of the incident were revealed by the press services of the Zaporizhzhia region police and the territorial administration of the DBR in Melitopol.
The conflict took place in the village of Balabyne in the Zaporizhzhia district near a store. It involved a special forces police officer and a group of military personnel; however, the accounts of the events differ drastically between the DBR and the police.
Police Version
The National Police reported that their officer, after returning home from the conflict, went out into the yard and fired several shots into the air with automatic weapons that he possessed legally.
“During a subsequent altercation, the servicemen inflicted bodily injuries on the police officer and took away his automatic firearm. At that moment, the police officer's mother attempted to stop the conflict, but one of the servicemen pushed her — the woman fell and suffered a leg fracture. Then the police officer used his service pistol against the attackers,” the message states.
DBR and Prosecutor's Version
For their part, the DBR and the prosecutor's office noted that the police officer was off duty and reportedly in a state of alcohol intoxication, having allegedly provoked the conflict with the military. According to their version, he first opened fire with his automatic weapon, making several aimless shots towards the servicemen.
After being disarmed, the police officer returned home, took his service weapon, and went back outside. Returning to the scene of the conflict, he fired several more shots at the servicemen, trying to hit them, the office noted.
Earlier, it was reported that in Ternopil region, a worker at the TCK beat a police officer.
Such incidents underscore the importance of clear communication between law enforcement agencies. In the tense social environment, it is particularly important to clarify facts and reasons for conflicts to avoid similar cases in the future and to maintain law and order. The situation requires thorough investigation to understand both versions of the events and to render fair assessments and decisions.
