The Pentagon announced how many military personnel North Korea sent to Russia.
The deputy spokesperson for the Pentagon, Sabrina Singh, reported that North Korea sent about 10,000 military personnel to Russia for training and participation in the war against Ukraine. According to her, some North Korean units have already approached Ukraine and may be heading to the Kursk region, where Russia is trying to repel the Ukrainian offensive.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Andriy Sybiha, called for the lifting of restrictions on long-range strikes on Russia after confirmation of North Korean troops' presence on Russian territory. Earlier, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte also confirmed Russia's involvement of North Korean military in the war against Ukraine.
President Volodymyr Zelensky also confirmed that the first North Korean troops will be deployed by Russia in combat zones on October 27-28. North Korea's military reserves allow it to conduct combat operations for three months.
The Wall Street Journal notes that the North Korean military personnel in Russia may be young people in the early stages of military service.
