Trump and Putin Meeting in Alaska

The upcoming meeting of U.S. President Donald Trump with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, scheduled for August 15 in Anchorage, will serve as a 'listening exercise' for the American leader. This was reported by White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt.

Only one side involved in this war will be present at the meeting. So the president must go and gain, once again, a clearer and better understanding of how we can hopefully end this war. I think this is a listening exercise for the president
- Levitt stated.

The White House clarified that the initiative to hold negotiations came from the Russian side during a meeting with Special Envoy Steve Vitskoff in Moscow. Media sources reported that the summit will take place at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized that this meeting should not be viewed as a diplomatic victory for the Kremlin or a concession to Putin. According to him, it will be exploratory in nature, and Trump aims to assess the situation himself, 'looking this person in the eye.'

Let us remind you that on Friday, August 15, U.S. President Donald Trump will meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska. Washington stresses that this event is not a victory for the Kremlin and should not be perceived as a concession to Moscow.
