Peace Talks in Florida: What the US and Ukraine are Negotiating.

According to ТСН: High-ranking officials from the Trump administration met with Ukrainian negotiators in Florida to continue discussions on peace agreements.

Details of the Negotiations

The negotiations focus on the following issues:

• timing of elections in Ukraine,

• possibility of exchanging territories between Russia and Ukraine,

• other unresolved issues between the White House and Kyiv regarding the conditions of the peace agreement.

The meeting involved Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. They met with the Ukrainian delegation led by Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, at Shell Bay — Witkoff's golf resort.

It is known that Witkoff and Kushner plan to visit Moscow to continue negotiations with Russia.

Aims of the Negotiations

Rubio stated at the beginning of the meeting that the main goal is "to ensure the end of the war that leaves Ukraine sovereign and independent, as well as creates opportunities for its prosperity".

This meeting occurred after several weeks of diplomatic efforts that arose following the leak of the US peace plan online. Critics expressed concerns that this leak strengthens Russia's position, causing alarm in Kyiv and among Ukraine's allies in Europe.

Rubio also held preliminary talks with Ukrainian officials in Geneva, during which they made some progress in forming an acceptable peace plan.

At the Sunday meeting, Umerov thanked Trump and his team for their efforts.

Last month, Umerov, discussing the 28-point plan with Witkoff and Kushner in Miami, noted that the proposal is more beneficial for Russia than for Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky praised the progress in the negotiations, saying that "the American side is demonstrating a constructive approach, and in the coming days it may be possible to specify the steps to determine how to bring the war to a decent conclusion".

Putin's Expectations

At a press conference, Vladimir Putin outlined his demands, stating:

"When Ukrainian troops leave the territories they are holding, then the hostilities will cease. If not, we will achieve this by military means."

These negotiations between the US and Ukraine underscore the importance of diplomacy in resolving the conflict and shaping conditions for stable peace in the region. The prospects for further actions remain uncertain, but constructive dialogue between the parties gives hope for a positive outcome.
