Hourly Power Outage Schedules for Ukraine, Effective February 21: Which Regions Are Affected.
Hourly Power Outage Schedules Across Ukraine
According to TSN.ua: Ukraine will implement scheduled hourly power outages starting February 21, 2023. This measure is a direct response to the severe damage inflicted on the country's energy infrastructure by massive Russian missile and drone attacks, which has necessitated strict management of the national power supply. These rolling blackouts will affect numerous regions, with specific schedules being prepared for several oblasts. This situation reflects the ongoing strain on Ukraine's energy grid as it endures continued attacks.
It is important to note that no power outages are currently scheduled for the Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia, Volyn, Lviv, and Rivne oblasts. Residents in these western regions will therefore continue to have access to electricity without any scheduled interruptions.
Outage Schedules for Other Regions
Schedules for other oblasts, including Kyiv, Kyivska, Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Zaporizhzhia, are currently being finalized. For Zaporizhzhia Oblast, specific schedules have already been announced, which include the following time blocks:
- Schedule 1.1: 03:00 - 08:00, 12:00 - 17:00, 21:00 - 24:00;
- Schedule 2.1: 00:00 - 03:30, 07:30 - 12:30, 16:30 - 21:30, etc.
Schedules for other regions are also being developed, but precise timings have not yet been made public.
Furthermore, outage schedules for Poltava, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Sumy, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Chernivtsi, and Khmelnytskyi oblasts will be announced in the near future.
This initiative is part of broader efforts to maintain the stability of the national energy system under the threat of ongoing aggression. Authorities are urging citizens to understand the necessity of these outages, which, while disruptive, are essential for preserving Ukraine's overall energy security.
The implementation of scheduled power outages underscores the severe challenges facing Ukraine's energy infrastructure during wartime. Such measures are critical for maintaining system stability and preventing widespread, cascading failures.
Residents are advised to prepare for disruptions to their daily routines, as the nation's energy security now depends on the responsible cooperation of every citizen.
