Complete Blackout in Dnipro: City Without Light, Water, and Heating

According to ТСН: On the evening of January 7, Dnipro experienced a complete blackout due to an attack on its energy infrastructure by the RF. The entire thermal power plant and substations in the region were shut down.

The head of the Dnipropetrovsk OVA, Mykola Lukashuk, pointed out that the city remained without electricity as a result of the attack.

"Currently, there are no forecasts for restoring power," emphasized the OVA head.

What is happening with water and heating in Dnipro

At 10:40 PM, water supply and heating in the city were turned off due to an accident.

"The entire city is without light, and the recovery timelines are unknown. Of course, there is also no water with heating," reported the correspondent of TSN.ua.

The most critical situation is in the districts of Pavlohrad and Synelnykove, where the company 'DZD' was disconnected from the power grid.

"Make water reserves urgently; if you currently have water at home, ensure a supply," Lukashuk urged.

Materials about the 'Unbreakable Points' are available in the 'Diia' app.

Rescue services are working intensively, and residents are asked to follow the authorities' instructions and not to panic.

Metro Stopped

In Dnipro, the metro was stopped; employees are leading people out of the tunnels, and the escalators are not functioning.

Due to the blackout, suburban trains in the region were also stopped, including the connections Zaporizhzhia – Synelnykove, Chaplyne – Synelnykove, Dnipro – Chaplyne, and Piatykhatky – Dnipro.

The complete blackout affected not only Dnipro but also Kryvyi Rih and Zaporizhzhia.

Ukrzaliznytsia reported that all trains in the region were switching to an emergency steam locomotive due to a comprehensive blackout, and the stations are powered by generators.

"In the unbreakable points, not only hot tea but also chargers and uninterrupted contact via Starlink are traditionally available," they emphasized at 'UZ'.

Trains under emergency steam locomotives depart with controlled delays:

  • 734 Kyiv – Dnipro
  • 37 Zaporizhzhia – Kyiv
  • 119 Dnipro – Cholm
  • 79 Dnipro – Lviv
"The train service from Dnipro City Express will also be restored tomorrow under steam locomotives. We will not stop," added Ukrzaliznytsia.

Additionally, starting January 8, there may be additional power outages in Ukraine due to worsening weather conditions, informed Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

In the current situation, it is important for residents to stay informed about the news and to follow the recommendations of the relevant authorities. Certainly, restoring power will take time, but the coordination of rescue services and support from the population can significantly ease this crisis. One should be aware of the possibilities that the 'Unbreakable Points' provide to obtain the necessary resources during these difficult moments.
