Employment of Ukrainian Refugees in Germany. Scholz Made a Tough Statement.
German Chancellor Urges Ukrainian Refugees to Work
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has called on hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian refugees to start working in Germany as soon as possible. He made this statement at a meeting with his constituents in Teltow.
Scholz pointed to the federal government's Job-Turbo program, which has increased the number of working Ukrainians in Germany to 200,000. He also emphasized that while it is not possible to work according to qualifications immediately without going through certain procedures, Ukrainian refugees can start with part-Time jobs and obtain certificates later.
The Chancellor expressed concern about the partial employment of Ukrainians, believing that this issue should be addressed by federal states and employers. Scholz also highlighted that the number of bodies recognizing professional degrees and qualifications needs to be reduced.
This is nonsense. We are really trying to reduce the number of recognition bodies (documents) - said Scholz.
It should be noted that Germany is experiencing a shortage of specialists in various fields such as engineering, care, IT, and truck driving. According to Eurostat, most Ukrainian refugees reside in Poland and Germany.
The German government is simplifying the employment procedure for Ukrainian refugees, which helps attract more workers from Ukraine. About 1.65 million Ukrainians are registered in Germany.
Ukrainian refugees have various employment options without higher education in Germany.
