Russia demands all of Donbas in negotiations: what is known about the new conditions from the Kremlin.
According to ТСН: During negotiations with the United States, Russia continues to insist on receiving all the territory of Donbas, including areas it has not managed to capture.
This information is confirmed by Russian propaganda media.
Putin's Word
At the traditional meeting of the State Council of the Russian Federation, which formally concerned personnel policy, Putin devoted a significant part of his speech to the topic of war and the so-called 'peaceful settlement.'
He claimed that at the negotiations in Anchorage, he allegedly 'made certain concessions,' but this merely confirms the Kremlin's unchanged demand: to hand over all of Donbas within its administrative borders to Russia.
Kremlin's Position
The dictator noted that during negotiations with the American side, various options were discussed, but after consultations with European partners, part of the proposals, according to him, was revised, which he characterized as 'a manifestation of weakness.'
At the same time, Putin emphasized that Moscow is ready to adhere to those 'concessions' that he allegedly approved in Anchorage, which means for the Kremlin the unconditional recognition of Donbas as 'Russian.'
In particular, he stated that the question of the ownership of the Kramatorsk-Kostyantynivka-Sloviansk industrial hub 'is not being discussed at all.' However, he allowed for the possibility of partial exchange of other territories, but only under terms favorable to Russia.
Kremlin's Ultimatum Demands
Thus, the Kremlin has effectively confirmed that it does not abandon its ultimatum demands, despite the lack of military control over a significant part of Donbas.
Previously, expert Vadym Denysenko noted that the peace plan with 20 points recently presented by President Volodymyr Zelensky will not be signed, and its publication has certain political objectives.
Also, the U.S. ambassador to NATO, Matthew Witaker, stated that the resolution of the war in Ukraine is possible within the next 90 days.
The situation in Donbas remains tense, and the Russian position indicates an intention to continue pressure on Ukraine. Discussing a possible peace process within the framework of international negotiations is complicated, considering the statements made by the Kremlin. Time will tell whether chances for peaceful settlement will arise or if the conflict will continue further.
