Unfortunately, one person died as a result of the attack. The children in the kindergarten were quickly evacuated to a shelter, but the second floor of the building collapsed.
"Today Kharkiv miraculously avoided a major tragedy. The final circumstances of this situation will be clarified by the investigation," noted the mayor Ihor Terekhov.
Rescuers managed to evacuate all 48 children who were inside the building. At the same time, during the attack, an employee of KP 'Shliakhrembud' was killed, and a woman and other utility service workers were injured.
Need for Certified Kindergartens
Ihor Terekhov emphasized that this tragedy once again proved the importance of constructing underground, certified kindergartens in Kharkiv. The mayor stressed that children's safety must be ensured, rather than relying on chance.
"I have said repeatedly and I repeat: in Kharkiv, it is necessary to build real certified kindergartens underground," Terekhov stated.
At the site of the attack, rescuers, law enforcement officers, and medics are working to assist the victims and eliminate the aftermath of the attack.
As a result of the morning drone attack in Kharkiv, one man died, but all the children from the kindergarten were rescued. The mayor emphasizes the importance of constructing underground educational institutions to ensure safety in the city.
