The Chinese president may meet with the president of Ukraine in October
According to Reuters, Chinese President Xi Jinping may meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in October. This possibility was expressed at the opening of a military-diplomatic forum by former Deputy Foreign Minister Oleksandr Chaly. According to him, diplomatic relations between Kyiv and Beijing have strengthened, creating favorable conditions for the meeting of the countries' leaders.
In addition, Chaly noted that China is making efforts to restore European security. Meanwhile, Cui Hongjian, director of the European Studies Department at the China Institute of International Studies, stated that China is open to participating in a future peace summit, as it does not want its efforts to "go to waste". He also emphasized that China is willing to do everything that contributes to peace.
It is worth noting that President Zelensky had previously called for accountability for Russia's war crimes.
