According to ТСН: On the night of December 19, Russian occupiers attacked Ukrainian sports facilities, this time the athletics arena in Cherkasy was affected.

The Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Matviy Bidny reported this on his page. He noted that the enemy strike hit a place where children usually train and prepare for international competitions. The minister sharply condemned the actions of the aggressors and appealed to the global sports community.

“Preliminarily, there are no injuries. The attack the day before the all-Ukrainian athletics tournament once again shows: for the aggressor, there are no rules. I wonder if there will be a reaction to this shelling from the International Olympic Committee or international sports federations? Here you go, 'sports out of politics…',” the minister emphasized.

Moreover, at night, Cherkasy became the target of a massive attack by enemy drones, as a result of which part of the city was left without electricity. Energy crews are currently carrying out restoration work.

Also, in the Odesa region, an enemy drone struck a private car that was traveling on a bridge.

These events indicate that Russian attacks continue to threaten not only civilian objects but also the sports infrastructure of Ukraine. Despite the difficult situation, Ukrainian athletes do not lose hope of resuming training processes and participating in international competitions in the future. The reaction of the international community to such acts of aggression once again emphasizes the need to support Ukraine in this war, including in the sports sector.
