Surviving a Drone Strike: A Family’s Escape from Their Collapsing Home in Zaporizhzhia.
Attack on Zaporizhzhia: Locals Describe the Shelling
According to TSN.ua: A family named Parykosh narrowly escaped death when a Russian drone struck the roof of their two-story private house in Zaporizhzhia. The explosion caused extensive damage, destroying their home and belongings, yet remarkably everyone inside survived. This incident is part of a broader pattern of attacks targeting residential areas in the city, which has been under constant threat since the start of the full-scale war.
Iryna Parykosh recalled the terrifying moment: 'I was baking pies, and my 19-year-old child was sick. I had just helped her up and said, "Go eat something while your fever is down." She was sitting near the fridge eating soup. Then suddenly—a huge blast, and flames erupted from that direction!'
The explosion triggered a fire that consumed everything inside, including their granddaughter’s desk. 'A fire broke out immediately. Thank God we are all alive. We ran out and started putting it out ourselves until the firefighters arrived,' said Yuriy Parykosh.
Tragically, the Parykosh family was not the only one affected. In another part of the city, a drone strike destroyed a home, leaving a woman injured. Two cats belonging to the Parykosh family went missing after the attack, adding to the heartbreak. This event underscores the ongoing terror in Zaporizhzhia, where daily violence leaves behind ruin and suffering.
A Warning for Civilians
This shelling highlights the persistent danger faced by civilians in Zaporizhzhia amid the war. Attacks on residential neighborhoods create immense hardship for people trying to maintain normal lives under constant threat. Such incidents not only cause physical harm but also psychological trauma, reflecting the severe humanitarian crisis gripping the region.
