Russia attacked energy facilities: consumers in three regions left without electricity

According to ТСН: As a result of Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy facilities on the night of December 18, consumers in Cherkasy, Mykolaiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions were left without electricity. In many regions of the country, hourly power outages were introduced that day.

According to information from Ukrenergo, on the night of December 18, Russian troops again struck energy facilities in various regions of Ukraine. As a result of these attacks, consumers in Cherkasy, Mykolaiv, and Zaporizhzhia were left without electricity in the morning.

Restoration Work

In all regions where damage occurred, emergency recovery work is ongoing. Energy workers are making every effort to restore the operation of the damaged equipment as quickly as possible.

Consumption Restrictions

Due to previous Russian attacks on the Ukrainian energy system, on December 18, most regions introduced:

  • power limitation schedules for industrial consumers and businesses,

  • hourly electricity supply outages for residential consumers.

In regions with hourly outages, it is necessary to adhere to economical energy consumption.

Energy expert Mykhailo Gonchar noted potential complications in the energy system due to increased consumption in cold conditions, and also reminded of critical damages to high-voltage transformers. In addition to attacks on CHP plants, he predicts possible strikes by the enemy on water supply facilities, railways, and transportation infrastructure.

Current attacks on energy facilities highlight the vulnerability of Ukrainian infrastructure in wartime. Despite the efforts of energy workers, cold weather may lead to even greater challenges for the energy system. The situation requires a balanced approach and joint efforts to ensure the stability of electricity supply.
