Russian Drone Strikes Lviv, Damaging Playground and Schools.
Lviv Targeted in January 15th Attack
According to TSN.ua: On January 15, the Russian military launched an attack on Lviv using a combat drone. The strike damaged a children's playground and buildings in three city districts. Preliminary reports indicate there were no casualties.
The incident occurred between 06:07 and 06:50 on Stepan Bandera Street. The attack destroyed the playground and shattered windows in residential buildings, Lviv Polytechnic University, a school, and a college. In total, the blast wave blew out over 50 windows.
Official Response and Aftermath
Lviv authorities had issued a warning about the threat of unmanned aerial vehicles prior to the assault. Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, stated:
“Today, the enemy struck the center of Lviv.” - Maksym Kozytskyi
Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi added that the drone fell 40-45 meters short of a monument to Stepan Bandera and announced the start of cleanup operations:
“We have begun eliminating the consequences.” - Andriy Sadovyi
He also noted that “children will have a slightly freer day today.”
Monitoring of the situation and work to address the attack's aftermath are currently ongoing. This strike on a major western Ukrainian city, far from the front lines, underscores the persistent threat to civilian infrastructure across the country.
