Russia attacked Ukraine with missiles and drones: what is known about the consequences overnight

According to ТСН: On the night of December 6, Russia launched a new large-scale missile and drone attack on Ukraine, resulting in serious consequences. Explosions were heard both at night and in the morning. As noted by the head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council Andriy Kovalenko, Russian strikes were again focused on energy infrastructure.

Kyiv region

"A difficult night for Kyiv region. The enemy massively attacked the area with missiles and drones. Residential buildings, railway infrastructure, and business facilities were hit," reported the head of the regional military administration Mykola Kalashnyk.

The State Emergency Service (SES) noted that the Fastiv, Vyshhorod, and Bucha districts of Kyiv region were under fire.

As a result of the attack, fires and destruction occurred at the railway station and motor-car depot in Fastiv.

In the village of Novi Petrivtsi, a fire broke out in a warehouse building of 5500 square meters due to drone debris, three trucks burned down, and one residential building was destroyed with another six damaged.

A fire was also recorded in a private building in Nezhylovichi in the Bucha district. The cleanup is ongoing.

As a result of the attacks, three civilians were injured, one woman was hospitalized in a local hospital with injuries.

Due to shelling of the railway infrastructure, routes of electric trains in Fastiv have changed.

In addition to Kyiv region, the attacks affected other regions of Ukraine.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, energy infrastructure was damaged, fires broke out in Pavlohrad, and an 11-year-old boy was injured in Nikopol and was provided assistance.

Lutsk

In Lutsk, as a result of a drone attack, food warehouses caught fire in one of the neighborhoods, reported the city's mayor Ihor Polishchuk. Around seven in the morning, he noted three enemy UAVs that were flying towards the city from different directions, with air defense working against them.

Odesa region

Odesa region also suffered an attack from the enemy. Critical infrastructure has been switched to generators, and "Points of Invincibility" have been opened in the city. According to preliminary data, there are no casualties or injured.

In the region, 9500 subscribers were left without heating due to damages, and 34000 subscribers remain without water supply.

Port facilities were also hit: part of the infrastructure was de-energized, and the administrative building and elements of port infrastructure were damaged.

Chernihiv

In Chernihiv, the situation is complicated by attacks. Strikes were made on critical infrastructure facilities. The SES quickly extinguished the fires that occurred as a result of the strikes, and there were no reports of injured persons.

Russian shelling disrupted train schedules

Nighttime damage to the tracks led to urgent changes in the train schedule of Ukrzaliznytsia. Some trains will not operate, while others will run on alternative routes. Passengers are advised to check the schedule.

In Poltava and Rivne region, due to strikes on energy facilities, power supply problems arose. Part of Kherson also remained without electricity.

The Ukrainian Air Force also reported launches of cruise missiles towards Lviv, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, and military aviation operations began in the airspace of Poland.

Ukrainian air defense forces were active in all directions; however, the consequences of the attack are still being clarified.

This attack was another confirmation of Russia's aggressive strategy, which spares neither civilians nor civilian infrastructure. The affected regions demonstrate resilience but need support to overcome the consequences of these brutal attacks.
