Shelling in Druzhkivka and Explosions in Kharkiv

According to UATV: On January 25, 2023, Russian military forces shelled the city of Druzhkivka in the Donetsk region. The attack resulted in the death of a 78-year-old woman and injuries to three other individuals. According to the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, the victims, aged 47, 60, and 66, sustained shrapnel wounds, a mine-blast injury, and a traumatic foot amputation. All were outside when the shelling occurred and have since received medical assistance.

Separately, a series of explosions was reported in Kharkiv, including a drone strike on a 12-story residential building in the Saltivskyi district. This incident left an elderly woman injured by glass shrapnel. Mayor Ihor Terekhov stated that the explosion damaged windows in numerous apartments, and utility services are working to seal the building's exterior to preserve heat during the winter.

Conditions Across Donetsk Region

In the preceding 24-hour period across Donetsk Oblast, authorities recorded 1,646 separate strikes. Among the casualties were two children who were also wounded. The situation in the region remains severe, with local residents continuing to endure the consequences of active hostilities.

These events underscore the persistent violence in Ukraine, particularly in areas near the front lines. The shelling of civilian areas and the resulting casualties highlight the ongoing humanitarian crisis accompanying the conflict. Given the high number of strikes and victims, support for affected regions and the provision of medical aid remain critically important. Such incidents also raise urgent questions about the safety and protection of non-combatants in a war zone.
