Russia Aims to Draft 409,000 Soldiers in 2026, Ukraine's Commander-in-Chief Reveals.
Frontline Situation and Moscow's Strategic Plans
According to TSN.ua: Russia intends to conscript 409,000 troops in 2026 to sustain its war against Ukraine, according to Oleksandr Syrskyi, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Syrskyi emphasized that this move underscores Moscow's ongoing aggression and unwillingness to alter its objectives. He warned that such preparations signal the enemy's commitment to further escalation.
Syrskyi also reported that Russia is currently losing between 30,000 and 35,000 soldiers each month. Projected over a full year, these casualties could total roughly 400,000 personnel. This staggering figure highlights both the severity of the conflict and Russia's determination to continue fighting despite heavy losses.
Urgent Need for Defensive Reinforcements
In response to these challenges, military expert Vladyslav Seleznyov has stressed the importance of strengthening engineering and fortification structures. According to him, such measures are essential to hinder enemy advances and ensure regional stability amid the growing threat from Russia.
Russia's plans to draft a massive number of troops in 2026 underscore the protracted and serious nature of the conflict in Ukraine.

As a result, the frontline situation remains tense, and Moscow's intentions clearly indicate a willingness to prolong military operations against Ukraine.
The significant loss of personnel reflects the high intensity of combat, which could have severe consequences for both sides. Defensive measures, such as bolstering fortifications, are becoming critically important to maintain the resilience of Ukrainian positions in this context.
