Iran’s Rejection and the Loss of Strategic Options

According to TSN.ua: Russia’s struggle to replenish its surface-to-air missile systems is intensifying as it suffers heavy losses in the war against Ukraine. The country’s military-industrial complex is unable to independently restore the capabilities of its air defense arsenal, creating mounting challenges for a nation trying to sustain its defensive posture during an ongoing conflict.

Compounding the problem, Iran has now refused to supply military equipment to Russia. Until recently, Moscow had concrete plans to purchase several air defense systems from the Islamic Republic. However, due to shifting geopolitical realities, those plans are no longer feasible.

The Ukraine War and Mounting Russian Setbacks

The war in Ukraine continues, and Russia keeps incurring significant losses. For instance, the destruction of a Russian Ka-52 "Alligator" attack helicopter has been valued at 16 million dollars. Additionally, the 123rd Aircraft Repair Plant in Staraya Russa was hit, resulting in damage to an A-50 early warning aircraft.

According to Vladyslav Seleznyov, one should not underestimate the enemy’s capabilities or those of its envoys, underscoring the severity of Russia’s situation.
