Gazprom will stop gas supplies to Transnistria
The Russian company 'Gazprom' announced that starting from January 1, 2025, it will cease gas supplies to Transnistria due to non-payment of bills. According to the information provided in the press release, 'Gazprom' will limit gas supplies to zero volume per day. The company reserves the right to terminate the contract.
The acting head of Moldovagaz, Vadim Cheban, confirmed receipt of the decision from 'Gazprom'. He stated that Moldovagaz has secured sufficient volumes of gas for consumers in the Right Bank until the end of March 2025, having contracted it on regional and European markets.
Ukraine will also stop gas transit
It is worth noting that Ukraine will also stop the transit of Russian gas starting from January 1, 2025. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated that Ukraine does not intend to extend the gas transit contract. However, the transit of Russian oil will continue in accordance with the European Energy Charter.
Demand for gas in Europe is rising
There is currently an increase in demand for gas in the European Union, which may lead to the depletion of gas storage facilities. This situation resembles the energy crisis that occurred three years ago.
