Russian Military Alters Tactics on Southern Front

According to Novyny.live: In a significant tactical shift, Russian forces on the southern front, particularly in the Mykolaiv region, have begun employing kamikaze drones and reconnaissance UAVs more aggressively. The invaders are now launching 'Shahed'-type loitering munitions during daylight hours, which substantially increases the threat to civilian infrastructure and the local population. This development underscores the evolving nature of the conflict, where drone warfare is becoming a primary tool for targeting urban areas.

"Drones are now being deliberately sent to hit objects that will be public" - Vitaliy Kim

This marks a change in Russian military strategy, which also involves the use of FPV drones for attacks. In response to these new threats, the President of Ukraine has ordered enhanced defenses against FPV drones in frontline cities. As Kim noted, "Protection is now being strengthened, and a corresponding plan is already being implemented. Details are not being disclosed."

Emerging Security Challenges

In a separate but related action, Russian aircraft conducted a missile strike on Snake Island using Kh-22 cruise missiles. Concurrently, part of the Russian fleet has taken shelter in Novorossiysk, and there are currently no missile carriers in the Sea of Azov. These factors collectively point to a shift in the occupiers' tactical approach to combat operations in southern Ukraine, necessitating new security measures to protect civilians. The use of long-range missiles alongside swarms of cheap drones presents a complex, multi-layered defense challenge for Ukrainian forces.

The adaptation of Russian tactics on the southern front reflects a broader adjustment to modern warfare conditions, specifically the use of unmanned systems for precision strikes against public objects. These actions endanger civilian populations, compelling Ukrainian authorities to implement additional protective measures. The continuation of such attacks may also signal Russia's intent to intensify combat operations in the region, requiring constant situational monitoring and a reinforced defensive posture.
