Emergency Medical Vehicle Targeted in Attack

According to TSN.ua: On February 21, Russian forces attacked an ambulance in the Sumy region, resulting in the deaths of four civilians. According to witness accounts, the strike occurred while the vehicle was transporting two brothers to a hospital, one of whom was only 17 years old. The victims of this horrific incident were the two brothers and a married couple.

The ambulance driver sustained severe burns and is currently hospitalized. Oleg Grygorov, a representative of the emergency services, stated:

“On the way to the hospital, the Russians deliberately targeted the emergency medical vehicle with a strike drone.” - Oleg Grygorov

Residential Area of Sumy Also Hit

On the same day, Russian forces also struck a residential sector in the city of Sumy. In the Kovpakivskyi district, over 20 windows in residential buildings were damaged. Artem Kobzar, the mayor of Sumy, commented on the situation:

“As a result of the strike, over 20 windows in residential buildings were damaged. Fortunately, there were no injuries.” - Artem Kobzar

This attack was part of a worsening situation in the region, as on February 20, Russia also struck a civilian facility in the Kharkiv region, where the bodies of three people were later found under the rubble. These assaults on civilian infrastructure, including medical transport, are part of a pattern of attacks that violate international humanitarian law. The increasing intensity of shelling points to an escalation of the conflict and underscores the grave risks to civilians caught in the crossfire. This incident further highlights the urgent need to protect non-combatants and ensure their safety during wartime.
