Dismissal of Verbytsky from the prosecution authorities

The Office of the Prosecutor General completed an official investigation into the former Deputy Prosecutor General Dmytro Verbytsky. The results have been forwarded to NABU.

As noted by the head of the Prosecutor General's Office, Andriy Kostin, today, October 8, Verbytsky submitted his resignation from the prosecution authorities. At the same Time, Prosecutor General Kostin signed his resignation letter.

Biden postponed trip to Germany

American leader Joe Biden postponed his trip to Germany due to Hurricane Milton, which is expected to impact Florida shortly. The president will remain in the USA to "oversee the preparation for Hurricane Milton and response to it," as well as monitor ongoing measures to eliminate the consequences of Hurricane Helen in the southeast of the country.

It was expected that Biden would participate in the meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense Issues in Germany on October 12, which will gather in person at the leadership level for the first time.

Russians shelled Kharkiv

Russian troops conducted a series of strikes with tactical aviation on Kharkiv from 16:50 to 17:20. As a result of the shelling, two people were killed, and five were injured.

In the Saltivskyi district of Kharkiv, an aerial munition hit near a pond in a densely populated residential area. Two people died: a 69-year-old woman and a 73-year-old man. Five other people were injured. Multi-apartment residential buildings were damaged.

Death of a former mayoral candidate of Kryvyi Rih

In Dnipropetrovsk region, in the village of Kudashivka, the body of a former mayoral candidate of Kryvyi Rih and former director-general of the Central Mining and Processing Plant, Dmytro Shevchyk, was found at a tourist base.

One theory of the death is suicide. The man might have shot himself with a "Saiga" hunting rifle. Shevchyk left behind a wife and three sons.

Shevchyk ran for mayor of Kryvyi Rih in 2020 from the "Servant of the People" party. However, Konstantin Pavlov from OPFL won the elections at that time.
