Russian Elite's Evacuation from the Middle East

According to TSN.ua: Amidst U.S. and Israeli military operations against Iran, a hurried evacuation of Russia's political and business elite from the Middle East has been underway since March 2022. This exodus became evident through the flights of privately-owned, Russian-registered jets from airports in Oman and the United Arab Emirates to Moscow. From early March, at least 11 such aircraft have made these journeys.

One of the most notable cases was the arrival of a Dassault Falcon 900C, tail number RA-09617—known as 'Yanukovych's jet'—at Suhar airport on March 7, 2022. Another aircraft, a Tu-204-300 with tail number RA-64053, linked to the state corporation 'Roscosmos', arrived in Suhar on March 2, 2022. The cost of a ticket on these evacuation flights in early March reached up to 20,000 euros, highlighting the high level of urgency and exclusivity of these operations. This evacuation underscores how global tensions can directly impact the movements of the world's wealthiest and most powerful individuals.

Flight Coordination Efforts

On March 3, 2022, Russian companies Dexter Taxi and 'Severo-zapad' coordinated flights from Oman to Moscow. Among the planes used for the evacuation was a Bombardier Global 5000, owned by the families of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov and USM Holdings shareholder Alisher Usmanov. A Mitsubishi Challenger 850, which departed from Dubai on March 2, 2022, is also linked to the family of former Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev.

These events point to decisive action by the Russian elite in the face of threats and international instability triggered by military operations in the region.

The evacuation of the Russian elite from the Middle East may indicate growing anxiety among business and political figures in the context of global political instability.

Specifically, U.S. and Israeli military actions against Iran could have significant consequences for security and the economic situation in the region, prompting Russian oligarchs and politicians to take urgent steps to safeguard their assets and security. Given this, the unfolding situation could impact the geopolitical landscape of the region and relations between Russia and Western nations.
