IAEA warned about the reduction of nuclear power plant capacity after massive Russian attack

According to ТСН: As a result of a large-scale Russian airstrike on the night of December 6, Ukrainian nuclear power plants were forced to reduce their output.

This was reported in the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) report. The document states that the reduction in electricity production at the nuclear power plants was a consequence of damage to the power grid due to 'military actions'.

‘IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi reiterates the call for military restraint to avoid a nuclear accident,’ the IAEA warned.

It was previously reported that energy facilities had become the primary target of the massive Russian shelling.

The Ministry of Energy noted the damage to facilities in the Kyiv, Chernihiv, Lviv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, and Kharkiv regions.

As a result of the attack, consumers in the Odesa, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Mykolaiv regions were left without electricity.

It is worth reminding that during this night, Ukrainian air defense destroyed or neutralized 615 enemy targets that launched a massive strike on the country’s critical infrastructure.

This attack once again underscores the seriousness of the situation with Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which has repeatedly become a target for attacks. Large-scale damage to the power grid threatens the stability of energy supply, especially in winter when electricity consumption increases. It is important to respond to these threats and ensure the protection of critical facilities.
